HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Fred Rinehart on
4 the occasion of being named Catlin Lions Club Citizen of the
5 Year; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Fred Rinehart and his family have lived in Catlin
7 since 1974; he was the former mayor of Catlin, serving for 8
8 years; as mayor, he was responsible for negotiating with
9 Norfolk Southern railroad to prevent their trains from blocking
10 the southern portion of Catlin; he was responsible for
11 increasing the amount of power lines available to the citizens
12 of Catlin, as well as the addition of water loops to ensure
13 adequate access for fire engines and to accommodate Catlin's
14 residential growth; he was responsible for finding new
15 management for Catlin's IGA grocery store, an important
16 business for the village that was in danger of closing; and he
17 was instrumental in getting the Webster Street bridge-widening
18 project under way; he is also a 2005 retiree of the Jamaica
19 school district; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Fred Rinehart intends to enjoy a break from civic
21 duties, instead planning to continue his involvement with the
22 Catlin United Methodist Church as well as spending some time on
23 home improvement projects; he and his wife Carol also plan to

1 travel during his retirement; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 congratulate Fred Rinehart on receiving the Catlin Lions Club
5 Citizen of the Year award and wish him continued success and
6 happiness in the future; and be it further
 
7     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
8 presented to Fred Rinehart as a symbol of our esteem and
9 respect.
