HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Fred Rinehart on the occasion of being named Catlin Lions Club Citizen of the Year; and

WHEREAS, Fred Rinehart and his family have lived in Catlin since 1974; he was the former mayor of Catlin, serving for 8 years; as mayor, he was responsible for negotiating with Norfolk Southern railroad to prevent their trains from blocking the southern portion of Catlin; he was responsible for increasing the amount of power lines available to the citizens of Catlin, as well as the addition of water loops to ensure adequate access for fire engines and to accommodate Catlin's residential growth; he was responsible for finding new management for Catlin's IGA grocery store, an important business for the village that was in danger of closing; and he was instrumental in getting the Webster Street bridge-widening project under way; he is also a 2005 retiree of the Jamaica school district; and

WHEREAS, Fred Rinehart intends to enjoy a break from civic duties, instead planning to continue his involvement with the Catlin United Methodist Church as well as spending some time on home improvement projects; he and his wife Carol also plan to travel during his retirement; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Fred Rinehart on receiving the Catlin Lions Club Citizen of the Year award and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Fred Rinehart as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
