HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Bishop McNamara High School teacher and coach Jim Frogge on being named to the Illinois High School Football Association's Coaches Hall of Fame; and

WHEREAS, Jim Frogge completed his undergraduate degree at Yale University, where he played football and then completed his master's work at Northwestern University and Governors State University; he became a varsity assistant coach in 1978 after his initial years coaching the junior varsity teams; he has had many opportunities with other jobs, but he loves teaching, coaching, and helping to shape the lives of young men and women; he has been an assistant coach at Bishop McNamara High School for 33 years; he also is chairman of the school's science department and teaches chemistry and physics; and

WHEREAS, Through his methods of preparing players on their march to championships, Jim Frogge has helped to build Bishop McNamara High School into a perennial power; concentrating on defense in his early years, he gradually became more offense-oriented; he has been affiliated with most of the McNamara feats and has helped the teams make the state playoffs 24 times, earn four state football titles, finish undefeated twice, and establish a win-loss record of 230-78; at his induction Coach Frogge was referred to as "one of the real gentlemen of the game and profession of coaching"; and

WHEREAS, Jim Frogge has been recognized at State and national levels as a master teacher; he was awarded the Woodrow Wilson Science Education Fellowship at Princeton University and has received many regional awards in conservation and science education; he is also an active community volunteer; and

WHEREAS, Jim Frogge lives in Kankakee with his wife, Margaret; they have three children, Jessica, Sarah, and Nathan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jim Frogge on being named to the Illinois High School Football Association's Coaches Hall of Fame and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jim Frogge as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
