HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Harrisburg Police Chief Mike Herron on his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Chief Herron retired on May 16, 2007 after more than 6 years as chief, 12 years as a street officer, and 11 years as a DARE officer; and

WHEREAS, Mike Herron plans to continue working as security officer at the Harrisburg Medical Center; and

WHEREAS, Mike Herron had initially planned to use the Harrisburg Police Department as a stepping stone to someday working for the Illinois State Police, but remained an employee in Harrisburg throughout his career; and

WHEREAS, On May 15, 2007 Chief Herron was honored by his colleagues and the former Chief of Police with a surprise retirement party; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Harrisburg Police Chief Mike Herron on his retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mike Herron as a symbol of our respect and admiration.
