HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On May 27, 2007, at Carver Center in Galesburg, a reception will be held honoring the life and work of Mrs. Willabell Hall-Williams of Galesburg; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Hall-Williams is a lifelong member of the Galesburg community; she has served on several boards, including St. Mary's Hospital, the United Way, American Red Cross, Farmers and Mechanics Bank, and others; she was a volunteer at Cottage Hospital for many years; and

WHEREAS, She held an administrative role with the Carver Center from 1950 to 1962; she worked in District 205 as a teacher and counselor for 24 years; she also taught at Knox College as an academic counselor for over two years; and

WHEREAS, She was an elected official, serving on the board of School District 205; she is a past president of the Galesburg Fire and Police Commission, the Public Library Board, the YMCA, Delta Kappa Gamma-Alpha Rho Chapter, and the Phyllis Wheatley Club; and

WHEREAS, Willabell Hall-Williams is a graduate of Knox College and Western Illinois University; she was the recipient of an honorary degree from Knox College; she is a member of Immaculate Heart of Mary Church; she is a past president of the Ladies of Mary Altar Society and an Extra Ordinary Minister of Holy Communion; and

WHEREAS, Willabell Hall-Williams is deserving of this honor, for her hard work and devotion to others; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mrs. Willabell Hall-Williams and wish her continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mrs. Willabell Hall-Williams as a symbol of our respect.
