HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club for their many accomplishments; and

WHEREAS, the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club was created by Chuck and Elaine Dobra, Steve Scholten, Jerry Gordon, and several others in August 1996; the club was officially chartered on January 24, 1997; and

WHEREAS, The club has been responsible for many accomplishments throughout the community; it was responsible for the completion of Miracle Field in Roselle, a ball playing venue for children with disabilities to play baseball side by side with non-disabled children; the club created the Bookworm Angels' Big Book Drive, which delivered 17,000 books to Bookworm Angels for reading programs in at-risk schools in Chicago, as well as supervising and donating to the Bloomingdale and Roselle Fish Release Events for children who fish at park district ponds; the club also developed and implemented an international service project through a Rotary Club in Lebanon to support people in need during war; and

WHEREAS, The Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club has also made donations to many community organizations, such as the Humanitarian Service Project, where the club sponsored a senior citizen; members also have donated to the Western DuPage Special Recreation Association Miracle Field League and the DuPage County Area Project; and

WHEREAS, The Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club has also received many awards, such as the District Outstanding Membership Growth, 1998-99; District Conference Award 1998-1999; District Polio Plus Partners 100% Club, 1999-2000; Rotary International Global Quest Membership Award, 2001-2002; District Membership, 2001-2002; District Outstanding Club Service, 2002-2003; District Outstanding Community Service, 2003-2004; District Governor's Award, 2003-2004; RI Centennial Community Project Participating Club, 2004-2005; and several RI Presidential Citations; the club also received the 2003-2004 District Governor's Award for its numerous activities; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club for its many outstanding contributions to the Bloomingdale and Roselle communities and beyond; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the president of the Bloomingdale-Roselle Rotary Club.
