HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois congratulate Cal Schneider on the occasion of his retirement from the Beach Park School District 3 School Board; and

WHEREAS, He is currently board president and will be attending his last meeting on May 14, 2007; he has been on the board since November 5, 1985; and

WHEREAS, He was born and raised in Beach Park with his brother, Larry and his sisters, Judy and Peggy; his parents, Les and Eleanor Schneider still live in the family home; and

WHEREAS, He attended Beach Park schools K-8 and graduated in 1972 from Oakcrest Jr. High and then from Zion-Benton Township High School (ZBTHS) in 1976; he graduated from Greenville college in 1980 with a bachelor of science degree in business education; he taught his first year at Huntley High School before accepting a position with ZBTHS; and

WHEREAS, In 1985, he was first elected to the Beach Park School Board and met his future wife, Debbie, that year as well; they were married in 1988 and children Kelsey and Matthew came along in 1989 and 1992; during this same period he earned a masters degree in counseling from Carthage College and one from Northern Illinois University in school administration; and

WHEREAS, He taught business at ZBTHS until 1997, then became a transition counselor; he is currently a guidance counselor and career development counselor; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Schneider and his family have traveled to many states and have spent many spring breaks in Florida; they have spent the last ten years enjoying their summers in Door County, Wisconsin; he and his family attend Northpoint Church in Winthrop Harbor where he served for ten years on the church leadership board and has volunteered many hours in the church AWANA program as club commander; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Cal Schneider on his retirement from the Beach Park School District 3 School Board and thank him for his many years of service to the citizens of Illinois; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mr. Schneider as an expression of our esteem.
