1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate Lona Kniskern as
4 she retires as director of the Stephenson County Senior Center;
5 and

6     WHEREAS, Lona Kniskern has served as the director for over
7 29 years; she began with a position at the Retired and Senior
8 Volunteer Program and worked her way through the ranks; in
9 addition to serving as director she is also an advocate for the
10 rights of seniors and the senior center; and

11     WHEREAS, The many programs under Lona Kniskern's
12 leadership include informational meetings that involve topics
13 for seniors, regular exercise programs, health fairs, meals,
14 caregiver support, and a transportation system for programs and
15 shopping; and

16     WHEREAS, Under her leadership the senior citizens program
17 has grown to the seventeen programs it now offers, and has
18 served over 6,230 seniors in the past year; and

19     WHEREAS, Lona Kniskern and her husband, Phillip, plan to
20 travel after her retirement begins; therefore, be it

1     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
2 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
3 congratulate Lona Kniskern as she retires as director of the
4 Stephenson County Senior Center and wish her nothing but the
5 best in her future endeavors; and be it further

6     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7 presented to Lona Kniskern as a symbol of our respect.
