1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the citizens of
4 Lincolnshire as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the
5 incorporation of the Village on August 5, 2007; and

6     WHEREAS, Lincolnshire was originally a subdivision,
7 developed by Ladd Enterprises, who also donated Spring Lake
8 Park and a small pond to the Village; and

9     WHEREAS, Residents who moved into Vernon Township near Half
10 Day between 1955 and 1957 voted for incorporation on August 5,
11 1957; 76 of the residents voted for incorporation, and 15 voted
12 against; and

13     WHEREAS, Fred Balzer was elected the first mayor; the
14 population census showed 309 people living in the Village in
15 1957; the population today stands at over 6,000 residents; and

16     WHEREAS, Other facts about Lincolnshire include the
17 establishment of a police department in 1971; Marriott's
18 Lincolnshire resort opening in 1975; the approval of home rule
19 by election referendum in 1975; the annexation of Lincolnshire
20 Woods, the first residential development, in 1977; the
21 annexation of a 46-acre Corporate Center in 1980; and the

1 construction of the Public Works Facility in 1986; and

2     WHEREAS, The Village of Lincolnshire continued to grow with
3 the construction of Lincolnshire Village Hall in 1993; the
4 creation of a TIF district in 1989, which led to the
5 development of the Village Green retail center in 1995; the
6 annexation of 65-acres of land, leading to the creation of
7 North Park in 1999; and the approval of the annexation of land
8 for the construction of Sedgebrook Retirement Community in
9 2003; therefore, be it

10     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
11 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
12 congratulate the Village administrators and citizens of
13 Lincolnshire as they celebrate the 50th anniversary of the
14 incorporation of the Village; and be it further

15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the Mayor of Lincolnshire, Brett Blomberg, as a
17 symbol of our esteem.
