HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The highest award the National Council of the Boy Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout is that of Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, Jordan Edward Ridgley of Boy Scout Troop 7, in Alton, will receive the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of Honor on April 15, 2007; and

WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young man must demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a willingness to be of help to others, and superior skills in camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and

WHEREAS, Jordan was successful in the planning and building of a storage shed for the Granite City APA, a "no kill" animal shelter; his project included presentations to various groups, raising money by selling pastry items, and seeking donations from several businesses; and

WHEREAS, Jordan Ridgley has been in scouting since the first grade, and earned many advancements, including the Order of the Arrow; and

WHEREAS, He appeared before the Trails West Eagle Scout Board of Review after the completion of his project, and the Board determined that Jordan had completed all the requirements to become an Eagle Scout; and

WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Jordan joins an elite and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among its members an extraordinary number of this nation's great leaders in business, government, education, and other sectors of society; and

WHEREAS, The achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout reflects favorably upon the recipient, his parents, Kenneth and Alesia Ridgley, his Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that that we join his family and friends in congratulating Jordan Edward Ridgley upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, and we commend him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that is the hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Eagle Scout Jordan Ridgley as an expression of our respect and esteem.
