HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives wish to congratulate the Tinley Park High School Cheerleading Team on being named the Illinois High School Association State Champions for 2007; and

WHEREAS, The team cheered for the Tinley Park football team throughout the season, as well as the basketball team; and

WHEREAS, The team attended the Midwest Cheerfest at Carl Sandburg High School on December 3, 2006 and placed first; on January 21, 2007 they competed at the first ever SCC Conference Cheerleading competition and placed second; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois High School Association sectionals were held on January 27 and the team from Tinley Park qualified for the State competition with their first place win; and

WHEREAS, The State competition was held in Bloomington on February 2, 2007; the top 25 teams begin, and the top 10 are asked to return a second day; Tinley Park took first place on day one; and

WHEREAS, The team is coached by Coach Katherine Kowalcze, Ashaunta McCormick, and Vikki Burkhardt; the school principal is Dave Kibelkis; and the Athletic Director is Mike Morgan; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Cheerleading Team are Ashley Gerber, Katelyn Kwasny, Amanda Murphy, Megan Piotrowski, Courtney Wessman, Christina Cardenas, Jaclyn Christofilos, Ashley Hendzell, Leslie Lapthorne, Brittany Sauerman, Laura Theisinger, Kristina Bailey, Kristin Diddens, Alyssa Malchick, Constance Mucha, and Samantha Mosqueda; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Tinley Park High School Cheerleading Team on being named the Illinois High School Association State Champions for 2007; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Tinley Park High School Cheerleading Team as a symbol of our esteem.
