HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jerry Bartell on his retirement as president and CEO of Marine Bank & Trust, located in Carthage, Hamilton and Augusta; and

WHEREAS, He has been in banking for 42 years, serving 18 years at Marine Bank; he is a graduate of the Graduate School of Banking in Madison, Wisconsin; and he was a founding member of the Independent Community Banks of Illinois (now, Community Banking Association of Illinois) and has served as chairman; and

WHEREAS, He served in the United States Army, Counter Intelligence Corps, and achieved the rank of E6; he was stationed in Bangkok, Thailand for most of that service; and

WHEREAS, He has served in many volunteer leadership capacities, including serving as president of the Carthage Kiwanis Club, president of the Carthage Lions Club, and co-chair of the Adams County United Way committee; and

WHEREAS, He was named an Outstanding Young Man of America in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Jerry and his wife, Linley, plan to continue to reside in Carthage, volunteering and working in the community, in addition to visiting with their new grandson in Palatine; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jerry Bartell on his retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jerry Bartell as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
