HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate our esteemed colleague, Illinois State Representative Aaron Schock, on the occasion of his succession to the position of United States Representative of Illinois' 18th District; and

WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Schock was born in Peoria on May 28, 1981; he grew up in central Illinois with his brother and two sisters; after graduating from Richwoods High School in Peoria, he was elected to serve as a member of the Peoria Public Schools District 150 school board, making him, at the age of 19, the youngest person to serve on a school board in the State, defeating the incumbent school president as a write-in candidate; after serving on the board for two years, he was elected to be the board's vice president by his fellow board members; a year later, he was elected to serve as school board president, making him what is believed to be the youngest school board president in United State history; and

WHEREAS, Representative Aaron Schock received his bachelor's degree from Bradley University; after earning his degree, he ran for the office of Illinois State Representative, defeating an eight-year incumbent, making him the youngest member of the Illinois House of Representatives; and

WHEREAS, Once again, showing his remarkable dedication and intense work ethic, Representative Aaron Schock was able to work 11 of his bills to passage during his first 5 months in office, including bills regarding education reforms, child protection initiatives, prescription drug savings, veterans assistance, road construction, and a bill to combat high-tech identity theft, the first bill of its kind in the nation; and

WHEREAS, As a member of the Illinois House of Representatives, Representative Aaron Schock has served on several committees, including the Appropriations-Elementary and Secondary Education, Appropriations-Human Services, Environment and Energy, Financial Institutions, Gaming, and Veterans Affairs committees; and

WHEREAS, After a hard-fought campaign, Representative Aaron Schock will now succeed Congressman Ray LaHood to serve as the Illinois 18th District Congressman, a position that he will no doubt pursue with the same vigor and intensity that has brought him to the great heights of success he has already enjoyed; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate our esteemed colleague, Representative Aaron Schock, on the occasion of his succession to the position of United States Representative of Illinois' 18th District and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That we thank Representative Aaron Schock for his service to the people of the State of Illinois and to the members of this august body; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Representative Aaron Schock as a symbol of our great respect and esteem.
