HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, President-elect Barack Obama announced his
3 intention to run for the Office of President of the United
4 States of America in Springfield; and
 
5     WHEREAS, President-elect Barack Obama is a son of the State
6 of Illinois and the people of the State of Illinois are proud
7 of him; and
 
8     WHEREAS, The need for affordable health care for the
9 citizens of the State of Illinois is self evident and
10 overwhelming; the urgency of the need for affordable,
11 accessible health care deeply impacts the lives of all
12 Illinoisans, and the urgency of the need for affordable,
13 accessible health care deeply impacts the State budget; and
 
14     WHEREAS, President-elect Obama ran his campaign promising
15 affordable and accessible heath care for all Americans and the
16 people of Illinois want to be a part of fighting for the change
17 they voted for; and
 
18     WHEREAS, A number of cities have invited President-elect
19 Obama to visit them on his way to the inauguration; and
 
20     WHEREAS, Fighting for affordable, accessible healthcare is

1 a non-partisan and legal activity for 501c3 organizations and
2 residents; therefore, be it
 
3     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
4 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
5 congratulate President-elect Barack Obama on his election and
6 invite him to begin his historic journey to Washington D.C. to
7 be inaugurated as the President of the United States of America
8 by first stopping to visit the city of Springfield, so that he
9 can address the people of Illinois and inform them of how they
10 can be involved in the fight for affordable, accessible health
11 care for all people; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to President-elect Barack Obama.
