HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, President-elect Barack Obama announced his intention to run for the Office of President of the United States of America in Springfield; and

WHEREAS, President-elect Barack Obama is a son of the State of Illinois and the people of the State of Illinois are proud of him; and

WHEREAS, The need for affordable health care for the citizens of the State of Illinois is self evident and overwhelming; the urgency of the need for affordable, accessible health care deeply impacts the lives of all Illinoisans, and the urgency of the need for affordable, accessible health care deeply impacts the State budget; and

WHEREAS, President-elect Obama ran his campaign promising affordable and accessible heath care for all Americans and the people of Illinois want to be a part of fighting for the change they voted for; and

WHEREAS, A number of cities have invited President-elect Obama to visit them on his way to the inauguration; and

WHEREAS, Fighting for affordable, accessible healthcare is a non-partisan and legal activity for 501c3 organizations and residents; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate President-elect Barack Obama on his election and invite him to begin his historic journey to Washington D.C. to be inaugurated as the President of the United States of America by first stopping to visit the city of Springfield, so that he can address the people of Illinois and inform them of how they can be involved in the fight for affordable, accessible health care for all people; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to President-elect Barack Obama.
