HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of JoAnn Romeo of Blairsville, who passed away on September 3, 2008; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn Romeo was born on September 26, 1934 in Herrin; her parents were Spence and Bess (Long) Yates; she married Bill Romeo on September 26, 1954 in Du Quoin; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn Romeo was the secretary and treasurer of Blairsville Water District for more than 27 years; she also, along with her husband, owned and operated the Twinkle Tree Farm and the Spot of Art Frame Shop, both located in Blairsville; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn Romeo was a member of the Herrin Christian Church; she was also a former member of the Franklin-Williamson County Board of Education and a former member of the Fraternal Order of the Eastern Star in Hurst; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn Romeo enjoyed painting and spending time with her family; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn Romeo was preceded in death by her parents; her son, William Fredrick Romeo; her sisters, Helen Latcher, Doris Jean Fuller, June Springhart, and Sue Poffenburger; and her brother, Paul Yates; and

WHEREAS, JoAnn Romeo is survived by her husband, Bill Romeo; her son and daughter-in-law, B.J. and Christy Romeo; her grandsons, Billy and Joseph Romeo; her sister, Ruth Giffin; her special friends, Sharon and Larry Walker; and her several nieces, nephews, and cousins; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of JoAnn Romeo; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of JoAnn Romeo as an expression of our sympathy.
