HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Zion Fire Rescue Department Battalion Chief Mike Stried on his retirement, July 6, 2008; and

WHEREAS, He joined the Zion Fire Rescue Department in 1975 and rose through the ranks to become Battalion Chief; and

WHEREAS, He served Zion Fire Rescue Department as a Training Officer, Shift Commander, Divemaster, and Fire Prevention Bureau Director; and

WHEREAS, He received a Bachelor's degree in 2003 from Southern Illinois University in Fire Service Management; and

WHEREAS, He is a 2006 graduate of the National Fire Academy's Executive Fire Officer Program, where he now serves as a member of faculty as an instructor; and he is ranked as a State of Illinois Fire Officer III; and

WHEREAS, Mike Stried is married to Roxanne; his children are Justin (Heather) Stried, Gary (Mandy) McDowell, and Kristi (Dan) Rapin; his grandchildren are Cody, Auden, and Henry, who is also a Lieutenant on the Zion Fire Rescue Department; and his parents are Robert and Grace Stried; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Battalion Chief Mike Stried on his retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mike Stried as a symbol of our respect.
