HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the House of Representatives of the State of Illinois are pleased to recognize milestones in the lives of the citizens of Illinois; and

WHEREAS, Erma Schanafelt will celebrate her 98th birthday on November 10, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Erma was married to Keith Schanafelt and had 3 children, Ted, Kay, and Dixie; and

WHEREAS, Erma has been active in Democrat politics in Marion County for over eighty years; she cast her first Democratic vote for President Franklin D. Roosevelt and has been voting Democratic ever since; she served as Chairwoman of the Marion County Democratic Central Committee as well as serving as Precinct Committewoman for several decades; and

WHEREAS, Each year, she participates in the Little Egypt Festival and the Soldiers and Sailors benefits; she continues to ride on Democratic Party floats in parades, attend political events, and support her party; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we wish Erma Schanafelt a happy 98th birthday; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Erma Schanafelt as an expression of our respect and esteem.
