HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of U.S.
4 Marine Corps Lance Corporal Tony Mihalo, who was killed in
5 action in Afghanistan; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Tony Mihalo was a 2004 graduate of
7 Naperville North High School, where he played football; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Inspired by the tragic events of September 11,
9 2001, Lance Corporal Tony Mihalo joined the United States
10 Marine Corps; after completing two tours of duty in Iraq, he
11 expected to stay in the United States, but later agreed to
12 serve in Afghanistan in early 2008, after the Marines asked for
13 combat veterans to lead units there; he was awarded three
14 Purple Hearts for his service in Iraq and was awarded a fourth
15 Purple Heart after he was wounded in July of 2008 in
16 Afghanistan; and
 
17     WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Tony Mihalo enjoyed watching the
18 History Channel and professional wrestling; and
 
19     WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Tony Mihalo will be remembered by
20 all who knew and loved him as a patriotic and fun-loving person
21 whose dedication to his country, his unit, and his family was

1 unmatched; therefore, be it
 
2     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
3 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
4 mourn, along with his family and friends, the passing of U.S.
5 Marine Corps Lance Corporal Tony Mihalo; and be it further
 
6     RESOLVED, That we honor the memory of Lance Corporal Tony
7 Mihalo and his willingness to serve his country, which led to
8 him making the ultimate sacrifice; and be it further
 
9     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
10 presented to the family of Lance Corporal Tony Mihalo as an
11 expression of our sympathy.
