HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of our dear former colleague and friend, former Illinois State Representative Maureen Murphy from Evergreen Park, who passed away August 9, 2008; and

WHEREAS, A lifelong resident of Evergreen Park, Mrs. Murphy held a variety of elected offices over the course of nearly three decades and was known for her outspokenness and tenacity; in the 1980s, she served on the board of Evergreen Park High School and as Worth Township clerk; she spent four years in the Illinois House of Representatives starting in 1993 and was a member of the Cook County Board of Review, which handles appeals of property tax assessments, from 1998 to 2007; her stint as chairwoman of the county party lasted from 2002 to 2004; and

WHEREAS, She had a lifelong devotion to the Catholic Church and she attended Mass at her home parish of Queen of Martyrs daily; and

WHEREAS, Mrs. Murphy leaves behind her husband, Jack; four sons, Jason, Shaun, Michael, and Matthew; and four grandchildren, Brennah, Maggie, Jack, and Nathan; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we send our sincere condolences to the family and friends of Maureen Murphy; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Maureen Murphy as a symbol of our sincere sympathy.
