HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to recognize milestones in the
4 lives of citizens of the State of Illinois; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Joseph B. Kirsner, M.D., Ph.D. of the University
6 of Chicago Medical Center, will be celebrating his 100th
7 birthday on September 21, 2009; and
 
8     WHEREAS, Dr. Kirsner was born in Boston, Massachusetts on
9 September 21, 1909 to Ukrainian immigrants; he was married to
10 Minnie Schneider, who passed away in 1998; and
 
11     WHEREAS, Dr. Kirsner has his M.D. from Tufts University
12 School of Medicine, his Ph.D from the University of Chicago,
13 and received an Honorary D.Sci from Tufts University School of
14 Medicine; and
 
15     WHEREAS, Over the years Dr. Kirsner became known as a man
16 who cared about research, teaching students, residents, and
17 colleagues, and caring for his patients; he served as a
18 prominent researcher, educator, and clinician, as well as
19 mentoring young students throughout the years; and
 
20     WHEREAS, He will celebrate this day with his son Robert S.

1 Kirsner, a tenured professor in Germanic Languages at UCLA and
2 a Visiting Professor in Dutch Language at the University of
3 Arizona, and his grandchildren, Rachel Kirsner-Schneider and
4 Daniel Kirsner; as well as other family members; therefore, be
5 it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 wish Dr. Joseph Kirsner a special birthday, filled with fond
9 memories of his eventful life; and be it further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to Dr. Joseph B. Kirsner as a symbol of our respect
12 and esteem.
