HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the
4 Parker High School Class of 1958 on the occasion of their 50
5 year reunion on September 19 and 20, 2008; and
 
6     WHEREAS, Parker High School, a Chicago Public School, was
7 named after Colonel Francis Parker, who provided a land grant
8 in 1889 for the purpose of building educational facilities for
9 the community; many institutions have been located in the
10 original land since 1889; and
 
11     WHEREAS, During the school years of the Parker High School
12 Class of 1958, Parker Elementary School, Parker High School,
13 Wilson Junior College, and Chicago Teachers College were
14 located at the site of the original land grant, enabling a
15 student to attend classes from kindergarten through college
16 without relocating; and
 
17     WHEREAS, The Parker High School Class of 1958 had 136
18 graduates in January of 1958 and 216 graduates in June of 1958;
19 many of their classmates still reside in Chicago, yet many have
20 relocated throughout the U.S. and the world, distinguishing
21 themselves in many professions; and

1     WHEREAS, The Parker High School Class of 1958 produced many
2 fine men and women who have provided great services to the
3 people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it
 
4     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
5 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
6 congratulate the members of the Parker High School Class of
7 1958 on the occasion of their 50 year reunion and wish them
8 continued success and happiness in the future; and be it
9 further
 
10     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
11 presented to the Parker High School Class of 1958 as a symbol
12 of our esteem and respect.
