HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The highest award the National Council of the Boy
3 Scouts of America can bestow upon a Scout is that of Eagle
4 Scout; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Austin Coolidge of Boy Scout Troop 73, in
6 Grayslake, will receive the Eagle Scout Award at a Court of
7 Honor soon; and
 
8     WHEREAS, In order to qualify as an Eagle Scout, a young man
9 must demonstrate outstanding qualities of leadership, a
10 willingness to be of help to others, and superior skills in
11 camping, lifesaving, and first aid; and
 
12     WHEREAS, Austin was successful in collecting, sorting, and
13 donating items for the victims of Hurricane Katrina; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Austin Coolidge has been in scouting since he was
15 six years of age, and has held the position of Senior Patrol
16 Leader and Assistant Patrol Leader; and he has served as a camp
17 counselor at Camp Makajawan; and
 
18     WHEREAS, In earning this high rank, Austin joins an elite
19 and honorable fraternity of achievers that counts among its
20 members an extraordinary number of this nation's great leaders

1 in business, government, education, and other sectors of
2 society; and
 
3     WHEREAS, The achievement of the rank of Eagle Scout
4 reflects favorably upon the recipient, his parents, his
5 Scoutmaster, and his fellow scouts; therefore, be it
 
6     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
7 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
8 join his family and friends in congratulating Austin Coolidge
9 upon attaining the coveted rank of Eagle Scout, and we commend
10 him upon the unswerving dedication to excellence that is the
11 hallmark of the Eagle Scout; and be it further
 
12     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
13 presented to Eagle Scout Austin Coolidge as an expression of
14 our respect and esteem.
