HOUSE RESOLUTION

 
2     WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of
3 Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Edna Rose
4 Vaughns, who passed away on June 22, 2008; and
 
5     WHEREAS, Edna Rose Vaughns worked as a volunteer community
6 organizer for over 50 years, including volunteer service with
7 the South Shore Commission Community Board, the South Shore
8 Bank Community, and the Chicago Public School local School
9 Council 1989; and
 
10     WHEREAS, Edna Rose Vaughns was a founder of the Women
11 United for South Shore (WUSS) and was a past founder of the
12 Roosevelt University South Central Alumni Association and the
13 South Shore Parkside Area Council, among many others; and
 
14     WHEREAS, Edna Rose Vaughns was a member of the Alpha Gamma
15 Pi Honor Sorority and Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc.; and
 
16     WHEREAS, A poem...

After the clouds, the sunshine

After the shower, the rainbow,

For life is a changeable thing;
3
After the night, the morning,
4
Bidding all darkness cease;
5
After life cares and sorrows,
6
The comfort and sweetness of peace; and

 
7     WHEREAS, Edna Rose Vaughns' love of life and ability to
8 live it to the fullest endeared her to her family members,
9 friends, and all who knew her, and enabled her to enrich their
10 lives in ways they will never forget; therefore, be it
 
11     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
12 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
13 mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Edna
14 Rose Vaughns; and be it further
 
15     RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
16 presented to the family of Edna Rose Vaughns as an expression
17 of our sympathy.
