HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Mr. Gerald W. Fogelson of Chicago on the occasion of his 75th birthday; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Fogelson is the Founder and President of The Fogelson Companies and the co-chairman and CEO of the Central Station Development Corporation; and

WHEREAS, He began his career while a senior at Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania, building houses; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fogelson took the Illinois Central Railroad Station in Chicago and redeveloped it into one of the largest urban developments in the nation; he was recognized for his efforts with induction into the Chicago Association of Realtors Hall of Fame in 2003; and

WHEREAS, He was an early pioneer of the planned unit development and paved the way for mixed use projects; he has developed rental apartments, office buildings, industrial parks, shopping centers, marina properties, and themed communities throughout his career; and

WHEREAS, He is the author of Central Station: Realizing a Vision, which chronicles the revitalization of Central Station; and

WHEREAS, Mr. Fogelson is a member of the Board of Trustees of Mt. Sinai Hospital; a trustee of Roosevelt University; a member of the Near South Planning Board; co-chairman of the Board of Advisors and founder of the Chicago School of Real Estate at Roosevelt University; and involved in numerous civic and philanthropic efforts; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Gerald W. Fogelson on his milestone birthday and wish him health and happiness; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Gerald W. Fogelson as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
