HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Benton High School girls track team on the occasion of winning the Illinois High School Association Class A Girls Track & Field 2008 State Championship on May 17, 2008; and

WHEREAS, The Benton High School girls track team captured the Illinois High School Association Class A Girls Track & Field 2008 State Championship in Charleston with a total score of 54, clinching their second tournament victory in 3 years; and

WHEREAS, During the tournament, Benton High School senior Leah Orley placed first in the triple jump, 110-meter high hurdles and 300 intermediate hurdles events; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Benton High School girls track team are Carly Cripps, Leah Orley, Victoria Price, Anna Smith, Courtney Smith, Gracey Bailey, Chelsea Hayden, Madaline Parrish, Kessa Roberts, Ashley Webb, Sammi Bybee, Sara Miles, Katie Pemberton, Sydney Potts, and Natalie Taylor; the team's head coach is Andy Sloan and the assistant coaches are Justin Groves and Bob Sloan; the team's managers are Shane Fitzpatrick and Shawn Ancona; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the members of the Benton High School girls track team on the occasion of winning the Illinois High School Association Class A Girls Track & Field 2008 State Championship and wish them continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Benton High School head coach Andy Sloan as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
