HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Father Edwin Pacocha on the occasion of his retirement from St. Cornelius Parish after 22 years of dedicated service; and

WHEREAS, Father Edwin Pacocha was born on February 16, 1936 in Chicago to Walter and Berniece; he was baptized at St. Helen's and received Holy Communion at St. John Berchman; and

WHEREAS, Father Edwin Pacocha attended grade school at St. John Berchman and attended high school at Quigley; he attended seminary for 7 years at St. Mary of the Lake in Mundelein before becoming ordained as a priest on April 28, 1962; and

WHEREAS, Father Edwin Pacocha has had a long and distinguished tenure in the clergy; he served as an Associate at St. Priscilla from July of 1962 until June of 1967, when he became an Associate at St. Mary of Czestochowa in Cicero, serving there until June of 1969; he went on to serve as an Associate at St. Mary in Buffalo Grove from June of 1969 until June of 1976, when he relocated to St. John Baptist Vianny in Northlake, serving there until June of 1982; after his tenure at St. John, he became an Associate at St. Paul of the Cross in Park Ridge, serving there until January of 1986; and

WHEREAS, In January of 1986, Father Edwin Pacocha was installed as the fifth Pastor of St. Cornelius Parish, where he remained until his retirement; as Pastor, he has dedicated 22 years to the support, spiritual care, and nurturing of the St. Cornelius Parish and School communities; and

WHEREAS, Father Edwin Pacocha enjoys doing mechanical work, particularly on cars, as well as fishing and gardening; and

WHEREAS, Father Edwin Pacocha serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Father Edwin Pacocha on the occasion of his retirement and wish him continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Father Edwin Pacocha as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
