HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Jan Polep, Head of Adult Services for the Crystal Lake Library, on her retirement; and

WHEREAS, When Jan Polep began her career, there was no Internet, no iBistro, and the library still checked out phonograph records; and

WHEREAS, She began working as the Children's Librarian in 1970; after a brief sabbatical, she returned to the Children's Services area on a part-time basis; in 1977 she resumed a full-time schedule and began working in the Adult Services Department, in Nonfiction Reference, and later the Fiction/AV section; and

WHEREAS, Jan always looks for ways to improve the library, and to provide better ways to serve the patrons, and will be remembered for her innovation and service orientation; and

WHEREAS, During her 38 years of service, she worked as a Youth Librarian, Reference Librarian, Interim Director, Head of Reference/Nonfiction, Head of Fiction/Audiovisual, and Head of Adult Services; and

WHEREAS, She has been instrumental in the building additions added in 1984 and 1995 and has been a key member of the Library Management Team, as well as Project Shoehorn; Jan Polep will retire on June 13, 2008 from the library; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Jan Polep on her retirement and wish her the best in her future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Jan Polep as a symbol of our respect.
