HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Michelle Knapp on the occasion of her 25th anniversary of service with the Together Program at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Knapp is a resident of Edgewater; she attended Hayt Elementary School and Senn Nicholas High School and raised two sons, Chris and Adam in the neighborhood together with her husband Gary; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Knapp is a registered nurse who has been caring for others for more than 30 years; she currently divides her time as a Parish Nurse between Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church and Ebenezar Lutheran Church; as a Parish Nurse, she performs the roles of health educator, personal health counselor, referral source, facilitator of small groups, and integrator of faith and health; she also performs visits to the church's members at church, at home, in the hospital, and at other health care facilities; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Knapp is the founder of the Together Program at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church; the Together Program consists of three separate playgroups for both children ages 0-5 and their parents or caregivers; these weekly playgroups provide a fun safe place for children to play, socialize, and make friends in the community; she teaches two of five sessions weekly and has been singing songs, telling stories, making art projects, and reaching out to families in The Together Program for 25 years; and

WHEREAS, Michelle Knapp will celebrate her 25th anniversary with The Together Program at a celebration in her honor on May 24, 2008 from 10 AM to 12 PM at Immanuel Evangelical Lutheran Church's Olin Center; and

WHEREAS, Through her work as a Parish Nurse and as founder of The Together Program, Michelle Knapp has touched many lives throughout Edgewater, Andersonville, and Rogers Park and has shown a deep commitment to the families in her community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Michelle Knapp on the occasion of her 25th anniversary of service with the Together Program and wish her continued success and happiness in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Michelle Knapp as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
