HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, On Friday, May 23, 2008 the Greater Salem Area Foundation will hold an awards dinner to honor members of the community; and

WHEREAS, Dr. S.E. Rubio will receive the Lifetime Achievement Award; he is a doctor in Salem who has been honored as the national Family Physician, in addition to other honors throughout the years; he has been in practice for over 50 years; and

WHEREAS, Chariya Tawjareon will receive the Humanitarian of the Year Award; Chariya owns Salem Flora Radiology and is a major supporter of events in the City, especially at the Country Club and the Community Center; and

WHEREAS, Terry Mulvany will receive the Public Servant of the Year Award; he has been the Director of the Department of Emergency Management for nearly 30 years and is dedicated to the safety of the community; and

WHEREAS, Larry Clark will receive the Civic Leader of the Year Award; he is the President of Marion County Bank and Past President of the Salem Business and Industrial Commission; he is a supporter of civic activities in the community and has been for many years; and

WHEREAS, Gerald Purcell will receive the Entrepreneur of the Year Award; he owns Americana Products, which has grown over the years adding new jobs to the community; and

WHEREAS, Julie Jones will receive the Teacher of the Year Award; she has taught for 35 years and receives praise from everyone who knows her; and

WHEREAS, Steve Jones will receive the Business of the Year Award; he is the owner of two businesses in Salem, including the Salem IGA; he helps with various organizations and fundraising events, dinners, and programs and is an active participant in the events of the community; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate this fine class of men and women as they receive well-deserved awards for their hard work and devotion to the community; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to the Greater Salem Area Foundation Award Winners as symbols of our respect.
