HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor the student team from West Chicago Community High School for receiving first place in the Stock Market Game (SMG) program spring 2008 session; and

WHEREAS, The Illinois Council on Economic Education (ICEE) has coordinated The Stock Market Game program for Illinois teachers and their students for the past 19 years, reaching over 450,000 students; and

WHEREAS, Students who participate in The Stock Market Game Program learn more than investing, they learn core academic concepts and skills that can help them succeed in the classroom and in life; and

WHEREAS, There were 19,259 students participating in the spring session; with the large number of participants, finishing with a top performing portfolio is proof of a winning team; in addition, the team placed second in the Cabrera Statewide Awards competition; as a result of winning the Cabrera Award, the team received a trip to New York City; and

WHEREAS, The team from West Chicago Community High School is made up of students Rogelio Del Muro, Max George, and Maribel Ramirez; the team is led by teacher Donald Zabelin; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the West Chicago Community High School team on doing so well on The Stock Market Game Program; and be it further

RESOLVED, That suitable copies of this resolution be presented to Donald Zabelin and his students as a symbol of our respect.
