HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to recognize Mathias Tabar and his years of service in the education field; and

WHEREAS, Mathias M. Tabar is retiring after 18 years as the Superintendent of Emmons School District 33 in Antioch; he was born and spent his childhood in Chicago; he received his Bachelor of Arts Degree in Elementary Education from Northeastern Illinois University in 1971; and

WHEREAS, He started his career in 1971 as a child care worker and recreational activities coordinator at Central Baptist Children's Home in Lake Villa; from 1973 to 1980 he taught third grade and learning disabilities resource at Pleviak School in Lake Villa; he received his Master of Arts degree in Educational Administration at Chicago State University in 1980; and

WHEREAS, He started his career in educational administration in 1980 as principal of Sidney Grade School in Sidney and Philo Grade School in Philo; from 1984 to 1990 he returned to Lake County and became the principal at B. J. Hooper Elementary School in Lindenhurst; he acquired his Educational Specialist degree from Northeastern Illinois University in 1989; in 1990 he became the superintendent of Emmons School District 33; and

WHEREAS, Matt Tabar is active in the community; he welcomed parent participation at Emmons School through volunteering at the school and he worked closely with the Emmons PTO; he is an Antioch Rotarian, serving on various committees and chairing the Rotary's scholarship committee; he is a member of the Lake County Superintendents; for many years he worked on the Special Education District of Lake County Management Council, including serving in the past as its president; and he is currently an active member of the SEDOL Foundation; and

WHEREAS, Matt Tabar has provided change for the district, including new additions to the school and promoting two successful referenda; he has witnessed growth in the district and has touched the lives of many children in the last eighteen years; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Mathias Tabar on his retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Mathias Tabar as a symbol of our sincere respect.
