HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Dr. James White on the occasion of his retirement as Superintendent of Queen Bee District 16 on June 30, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James White received his doctorate in education in August of 1993; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James White has had a long and distinguished career in education; he began his career in 1968 as a 6th grade teacher at Americana Intermediate School; in 1969, he went on to be a social studies/science teacher at Glenside Junior High School; in 1971, he became Assistant Principal at Glenside; he then became the school's Principal in 1973; and

WHEREAS, In 1981, Dr. James White became Assistant Superintendent of Business/Finance at Queen Bee District 16, remaining in that position until July of 1985, when he became Associate Superintendent of Curriculum/Instruction of the district; in December of 1985, he became Superintendent of Queen Bee District 16; from 1993 until 1994, he concurrently served as Superintendent and Principal of Glen Hill School; in 1994, he ceased his service as Principal of Glen Hill and continued serving as Superintendent, where he remained until his retirement; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James White and his wife of over 30 years, Carol, have three children, Jim, Becky, and Dennis, and five grandchildren; and

WHEREAS, Dr. James White serves as a model of hard work, integrity, and dedication for the people of the State of Illinois; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Dr. James White on the occasion of his retirement and wish him many happy and healthy retirement years; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Dr. James White as a symbol of our esteem and respect.
