HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate the members of the Lewistown High School Tube Band on being awarded the Ethel Percy Andrus Legacy Award for Innovation in Education by AARP; and

WHEREAS, On April 18, 2008, AARP will hold a formal ceremony in the Lewistown Community High School auditorium to present Band Director Clay Ginglen and the members of the Tube Band with a monetary award; and

WHEREAS, The Tube Band is known across the State of Illinois for using PVC pipe, sewer hosing, and kitchen spatulas to present a multi-media production; and

WHEREAS, The Tube Band has performed in the rotunda of the Illinois State Capitol to much acclaim; and

WHEREAS, The Superintendent of Lewistown School District 97 is William J. King; the Principal of Lewistown Community High School is Gavin Scronce; and

WHEREAS, The instruments played include the Tenor Tubulum, the Bass Tubulum, the Drumbone, the Tentacles, the Spectacle, the Tube Shaker, and the Tube-tron 2000; and

WHEREAS, The members of the Lewistown High School Tube Band are Josh Ginglen, Bobby McKenzie, Kelsey Vaughn, Kierstin Hadsall, Gage Myers, Alex Little, and Kaitie Roberts; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate the Lewistown High School Tube Band on being awarded the Ethel Percy Andrus Legacy Award for Innovation in Education by AARP and wish them continued success in the future; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the Lewistown High School Tube Band in honor of their achievements and as a symbol of our respect.
