HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to honor Thomas L. Trueblood on his recent retirement from International Truck and Engine Organization (formerly Navistar and International Harvester Company); and

WHEREAS, Prior to his retirement, Tom served as Director, Green Diesel Technology Public Affairs at International Truck and Engine Corporation since February 2003, where he was a major contributor to the successful efforts of implementing the Green Diesel Technology Products and made opinion leaders, including key government officials, customers, environmental groups, and news media, aware that diesel technology is on a path to near-zero emissions; and

WHEREAS, Tom also served as Manager of Public Affairs at International from March 1992 to February 2003, where he managed the company's liaison with government officials outside the United States, supporting its successful entry into the Mexican and Brazilian markets; and

WHEREAS, Prior to coming to International, Tom was a Washington Representative from 1972-1977 for Business International Corporation, a publishing and consulting company providing information on worldwide business, economic, and political conditions to companies interested in direct foreign investment; and

WHEREAS, Tom is a registered lobbyist with the United States Congress and in Colorado, Illinois, Ohio, and Wisconsin; and

WHEREAS, Tom is the Chairman of the State Legislative and Public Relations Committees of the Engine Manufacturers Association, immediate past Chairman of the U.S. Government's Industry Sector Advisory Committee on Transportation, Agricultural, Construction, and Mining Equipment, Secretary/Treasurer of the Chicago Area Public Affairs Group, and a member of the National Press Club; and

WHEREAS, Tom holds an M.A. in International Relations from Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies and an A.B. from Occidental College; Tom also spent one year of undergraduate study at the Institut d' Estudes Politiques of the University of Paris, France; Tom's military service includes serving in the Intelligence Branch of the U.S. Army, including two years duty in the Panama Canal Zone; he speaks, French, Spanish, and Portugese; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Thomas L. Trueblood on his achievements and retirement from International Truck and Engine Corporation; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Thomas L. Trueblood as a symbol of our respect.
