1 HOUSE RESOLUTION

2     WHEREAS, In February of 2008, the State of Florida suffered
3 a massive power outage; and

4     WHEREAS, A problem that apparently started in South Florida
5 quickly cascaded through much of the state's power grid and
6 sparked widespread outages throughout the state; and

7     WHEREAS, The power outage affected as many as 3,000,000
8 Florida residents; and

9     WHEREAS, A similar outage in the State of Illinois could be
10 catastrophic to the health and welfare of the State; therefore,
11 be it

12     RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE
13 NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we
14 urge the Illinois Emergency Management Agency and any other
15 relevant State agency to conduct a study of the causes of
16 Florida's power outage and determine whether the State of
17 Illinois is susceptible to a similar incident; and be it
18 further

19     RESOLVED, That a copy of this resolution be delivered to
20 the Governor and to the Director of the Illinois Emergency
