HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are pleased to congratulate Don Markowski, Fire Chief of the Glendale Heights Fire Department, on his retirement after 27 years of serving the community; and

WHEREAS, He began his career as a Firefighter and EMT in 1981 with the Department; he was promoted to Assistant Chief in 1995; and he was promoted to Chief in 2004; and

WHEREAS, He has served as Director of the Illinois Fire Chief's Association, Secretary to the DuPage Fire Chief's Association, Chairman of the Police & Fire Chief's Operation Committee, a member and Past President of MABAS, and a member of the Northern Alliance of Fire Protection Districts; and

WHEREAS, He has also served his community as a member of the Glen Oaks Foundation Board, Business Leader of the Year 2001 for the Glendale Heights Chamber, Commissioner for the Glendale Heights Youth Coalition, Founding Member and Past President for the Glendale Heights Character Counts Coalition, a member of the DuPage Character Counts Coalition, a member of the Glen Oaks Hospital Safety Committee, and he served at the Annual Blood Drive in conjunction with the Glendale Heights Junior Women's Club; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Don Markowski on his retirement and wish him the best in his future endeavors; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Don Markowski as a symbol of our respect and esteem.
