HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, Melrose Park Chief of Police Sam Pitassi has been named Man of the Year by the Flowers of Italy Club; and

WHEREAS, He was named Police Chief on May 1, 2007 by the Melrose Park village board; and

WHEREAS, He was born in 1952 and his family moved to Melrose Park when he was two; he attended Sacred Heart Grade School and Proviso East High School; and

WHEREAS, He attended Triton College and earned an associate's degree in police science in 1972 and a certificate in police corrections in 1974; he received his bachelor's degree in criminal justice from Lewis University in 1980; and

WHEREAS, Sam Pitassi joined the Melrose Park Police Department in 1974 as a patrolman; in 1982 he was promoted to detective of investigations; he was promoted to sergeant in 1995 and lieutenant in 1997; he was made deputy chief in 1999 and served in that capacity for eight years; and

WHEREAS, Sam Pitassi has been married to his wife, Rosa, since 1984; they have two children Christina and Sam, Jr.; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we congratulate Melrose Park Chief of Police Sam Pitassi on being named Man of the Year by the Flowers of Italy Club; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to Sam Pitassi as a symbol of our respect.
