HOUSE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of Representatives are saddened to learn of the death of Betty J. Green-Boston of Chicago, who passed away on January 25, 2008; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston was born on August 8, 1949 in Chicago; her parents were Martha and Willie James Pugh; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized; she renewed her commitment in Christ in her adult years and joined the Mt. Vernon Missionary Baptist Church under the leadership of Reverend Johnnie Miller; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston graduated from Farragut High School in 1968; she continued her education at Malcolm X College; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston was employed with Sears, Roebuck and Company for many years; she was employed with the Cook County Clerk of the Circuit Court at the time of her passing; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston was joined in holy matrimony to Roosevelt Green and to Norris Boston, both of whom preceded her in death; she was the mother of three children, Richard, Raymond, and Sohn; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston led a very colorful and busy life through her involvement in her church and N.A., where she was known as a gifted speaker, mentor, organizer, and leader; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston was preceded in death by her father; her husbands; her brother, Melvin; and her son, Raymond; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston is survived by her loving mother, Martha A. Pugh; her sons, Richard, Michael, and Sohn; her sisters, Loretta (George) and Tonyja; her brothers, Coy, Willie Jr. (Corliss), and Carl; her 13 grandchildren; and her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and friends; and

WHEREAS, Betty J. Green-Boston will be remembered by all who knew and loved her as a warm and compassionate woman with an exceedingly giving heart, who was tireless and outspoken in helping anyone who needed assistance; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn, along with her family and friends, the passing of Betty J. Green-Boston; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to the family of Betty J. Green-Boston as an expression of our sympathy.
