| HOUSE RESOLUTION

| WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois House of | | 3 |
| Representatives are pleased to recognize the faculty, staff, | | 4 |
| students, and alumni of Moraine Valley Community College as | | 5 |
| they celebrate the 40th anniversary of the College; and
| | 6 |
| WHEREAS, Moraine Valley Community College was founded in | | 7 |
| 1967; and
| | 8 |
| WHEREAS, Moraine Valley Community College has provided its | | 9 |
| 26 southwest suburban communities with quality academic | | 10 |
| transfer and career programs for 40 years; and
| | 11 |
| WHEREAS, Moraine Valley Community College has played a | | 12 |
| leadership role in serving the needs of students, residents, | | 13 |
| employers, children, and learners of all ages; Moraine Valley | | 14 |
| Community College is recognized locally, nationally, and | | 15 |
| internationally for its outstanding faculty and staff; and
| | 16 |
| WHEREAS, Moraine Valley Community College has awarded | | 17 |
| 40,000 associate degrees and certificates, placing it among the | | 18 |
| top 8 percent of community colleges; Moraine Valley Community | | 19 |
| College annually injects $548 million in direct and indirect | | 20 |
| wages and salaries into the local economy; and

| WHEREAS, Moraine Valley Community College graduates with | | 2 |
| an associate degree will see an increase in annual earnings of | | 3 |
| $11,400 or approximately $407,700 over the course of a working | | 4 |
| lifetime; and

| WHEREAS, Moraine Valley Community College is now focused on | | 6 |
| constructing new facilities and upgrading existing ones to meet | | 7 |
| the needs of a growing district population; Moraine Valley | | 8 |
| Community College remains committed to student success and | | 9 |
| providing quality, affordable education and job-training | | 10 |
| opportunities; therefore, be it

| RESOLVED, BY THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES OF THE | | 12 |
| NINETY-FIFTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we | | 13 |
| congratulate the many people who have been and are a part of | | 14 |
| Moraine Valley Community College and the 40-year history of the | | 15 |
| college; may Moraine Valley continue to be a valued part of the | | 16 |
| educational process in the State of Illinois; and be it further
| | 17 |
| RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | | 18 |
| presented to Moraine Valley Community College President Vernon | | 19 |
