    Amends the School Code. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning the regional office of education advisory board.

1     AN ACT concerning education.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The School Code is amended by changing Section
5 3A-16 as follows:
 
6     (105 ILCS 5/3A-16)
7     Sec. 3A-16. Regional office of education advisory board.
8     (a) Beginning April 1, 1995, a regional office of education
9 advisory board shall be established within each region serving
10 Class I counties to advise the regional superintendent of
11 schools concerning the planning and delivery of programs and
12 services under Section 2-3.62 and other programs under the the
13 control of the regional superintendent of schools.
14     (b) The advisory board shall consist of the following 13
15 members:
16         (1) 7 public members, at least one from each county in
17     the region, selected by the presidents of the region's
18     school parent groups at a meeting held each April. Public
19     members shall be geographically balanced throughout the
20     region. Public members shall meet the same criteria as
21     members of local boards of education but shall not be
22     members of a local board of education or school district
23     employees.

1         (2) 4 teachers, none of whom shall be from the same
2     school district, nominated and selected by all the teachers
3     in the region.
4         (3) 2 administrators, from different school districts,
5     nominated and selected by all the administrators in the
6     region.
7     Members of the advisory board shall serve 4-year terms,
8 except that of the initial members, 5 shall serve until April
9 30, 1996, 4 shall serve until April 30, 1997, and 4 shall serve
10 until April 30, 1998, as determined by lot.
11     (c) The regional office of education advisory board shall
12 meet at least bi-monthly 6 times a year for the performance of
13 its advisory duties under Section 3-11 and subsection (a) of
14 this Section 3A-16.
