    Amends the Pharmacy Practice Act. Makes a technical change in a Section concerning licensure without examination.

1     AN ACT concerning regulation.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Pharmacy Practice Act is amended by changing
5 Section 8 as follows:
 
6     (225 ILCS 85/8)  (from Ch. 111, par. 4128)
7     (Section scheduled to be repealed on January 1, 2018)
8     Sec. 8. Licensure by endorsement; emergency licensure. The
9 The Department may, in its discretion, license as a pharmacist,
10 without examination, on payment of the required fee, an
11 applicant who is so licensed under the laws of another U.S.
12 jurisdiction or another country, if the requirements for
13 licensure in the other jurisdiction in which the applicant was
14 licensed, were, at the date of his or her licensure deemed by
15 the Board to be substantially equivalent to the requirements
16 then in force in this State.
17     A person holding an active, unencumbered license in good
18 standing in another jurisdiction who applies for a license
19 pursuant to Section 7 of this Act due to a natural disaster or
20 catastrophic event in another jurisdiction may be temporarily
21 authorized by the Secretary to practice pharmacy pending the
22 issuance of the license. This temporary authorization shall
23 expire upon issuance of the license or upon notification that

1 the Department has denied licensure.
2     Upon a declared Executive Order due to an emergency caused
3 by a natural or manmade disaster or any other exceptional
4 situation that causes an extraordinary demand for pharmacist
5 services, the Department may issue a pharmacist who holds a
6 license to practice pharmacy in another state an emergency
7 license to practice in this State.
