AN ACT concerning State government.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The General Assembly Operations Act is amended by adding Section 15 as follows:

(25 ILCS 10/15 new)

Sec. 15. Relative's interest in legislation.

(a) A member of the General Assembly may not sponsor a bill or amendment in either house that affects an industry or State agency for which the member's relative engages in "lobbying", as defined in the Lobbyist Registration Act, regardless of whether that relative is required to be registered under the Lobbyist Registration Act.

(b) For the purpose of this Section, a "relative" is a father, mother, son, daughter, brother, sister, uncle, aunt, great uncle, great aunt, first cousin, nephew, niece, husband, wife, grandfather, grandmother, grandson, granddaughter, father-in-law, mother-in-law, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandfather-in-law, grandmother-in-law, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, stepfather, stepmother, stepson, stepdaughter, stepbrother, stepsister, half brother, half sister, fiance, fiancee, and the mother, father, grandfather, or grandmother of a fiance or fiancee.
