SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

20 ILCS 2805/2.15 new

Amends the Department of Veterans Affairs Act. Requires the Department to provide transportation between a State veterans' home and the nearest federal veterans' facility for the purpose of receiving medical treatment. Provides that this transportation must be available to all veterans regardless of whether the veteran is a resident of the State veterans' home.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Department of Veterans Affairs Act is amended by adding Section 2.15 as follows:

(20 ILCS 2805/2.15 new)

Sec. 2.15. Transportation between facilities. The Department shall provide transportation between a State veterans' home and the nearest federal veterans' facility for the purpose of receiving medical treatment. This transportation must be available to all veterans regardless of whether the veteran is a resident of the State veterans' home. The Department shall adopt any rules necessary for the implementation of this Section.
