SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:

720 ILCS 150/5.2 new

Amends the Wrongs to Children Act. Provides that it is unlawful for any coach, parent, teacher, or other person to knowingly allow the use of an aluminum bat during a recreational baseball or softball game in which a person under the age of 13 is a participant. Provides that a violation is a petty offense and is punishable by a fine of $250 for a first offense and $500 for a second or subsequent offense. Effective immediately.

A BILL FOR

AN ACT concerning safety.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Wrongs to Children Act is amended by adding Section 5.2 as follows:

(720 ILCS 150/5.2 new)

Sec. 5.2. Use of aluminum bats prohibited. It is unlawful for any coach, parent, teacher, or other person to knowingly allow the use of an aluminum bat during a recreational baseball or softball game in which a person under the age of 13 is a participant. Any violation of this Section is a petty offense and is punishable by a fine of $250 for a first offense and $500 for a second or subsequent offense.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
