AN ACT concerning regulation.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The Public Utilities Act is amended by adding Section 2-204 as follows:

(220 ILCS 5/2-204 new)

Sec. 2-204. Commission review on clean coal technologies.

(a) It is the goal of the State that by January 1, 2015, 10% of the energy used in the State shall be derived from coal gasification or other clean coal technologies.

(b) By March 1, 2015, the Commission shall:

(1) review the amount of energy derived from goal gasification by utilities under its jurisdiction; and

(2) prepare a report concerning the findings of the review that creates future goals.

Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon becoming law.
