SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
815 ILCS 505/2ZZ new

    Amends the Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business Practices Act. Makes it an unlawful business practice for any person to license, transfer, use, or sell information concerning a valid email address that was obtained because the owner of the email address has indicated that he or she no longer wants to receive email from that sender.

1     AN ACT concerning business.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Consumer Fraud and Deceptive Business
5 Practices Act is amended by adding Section 2ZZ as follows:
 
6     (815 ILCS 505/2ZZ new)
7     Sec. 2ZZ. Sale of email addresses. It is an unlawful
8 practice under this Act for any person to license, transfer,
9 use, or sell information concerning a valid email address that
10 was obtained because the owner of the email address has
11 indicated that he or she no longer wants to receive email from
12 that sender.
