SYNOPSIS AS INTRODUCED:
 
410 ILCS 535/24.2 new

    Amends the Vital Records Act. Provides that if a person requests a certified copy of a birth or death certificate and that certificate contains an error through no fault of the person requesting the certificate, a new certified copy of the certificate must be issued to the individual for no additional cost. Effective immediately.

1     AN ACT concerning public health.
 
2     Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois,
3 represented in the General Assembly:
 
4     Section 5. The Vital Records Act is amended by adding
5 Section 24.2 as follows:
 
6     (410 ILCS 535/24.2 new)
7     Sec. 24.2. Errors in issued certificates. If a person
8 requests and is issued a certified copy of a birth or death
9 certificate and that certificate contains an error through no
10 fault of the person requesting the certificate, a new certified
11 copy of the certificate must be issued to the individual for no
12 additional cost.
 
13     Section 99. Effective date. This Act takes effect upon
14 becoming law.
