AN ACT concerning radon awareness.

Be it enacted by the People of the State of Illinois, represented in the General Assembly:

Section 5. The State Commemorative Dates Act is amended by adding Section 120 as follows:

(5 ILCS 490/120 new)

Sec. 120. Radon Awareness Month. The month of January is designated as Radon Awareness Month. Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer in the country. A study of Illinois homes shows that half of all tested homes had unsafe levels of radon. The events and activities of Radon Awareness Month shall focus on increasing public awareness of the health hazards associated with radon exposure.
