| 1 | | SENATE RESOLUTION | 2 | | WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened | 3 | | to learn of the death of Ward T. Roberson of Rock Island, who | 4 | | passed away on January 28, 2024; and | 5 | | WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was born to Paul and Florence "Flo" | 6 | | Sallows Roberson in Moline on November 29, 1945; he married | 7 | | Sherry J. Nelson at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Rock Island in | 8 | | 1967; he served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War; and | 9 | | WHEREAS, Ward Roberson worked for John Deere Harvester in | 10 | | East Moline for 32 years, retiring in the late 1990s; and | 11 | | WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was a member of the Izaak Walton | 12 | | League of America, Davenport Chapter and the QC Parrot Heads; | 13 | | he bowled in the John Deere Bowling League for many years; and | 14 | | WHEREAS, Ward Roberson enjoyed working on cars, watching | 15 | | the Chicago Cubs and the Chicago Bears, collecting coins, and | 16 | | fishing; he had an ear for music and enjoyed organizing all of | 17 | | his albums and songs by the generations in which they were | 18 | | released; he loved spending time with his family, especially | 19 | | his grandchildren; and | 20 | | WHEREAS, Ward Roberson was preceded in death by his |

| 1 | | parents; his granddaughter, Elianna; and his twin brother, | 2 | | Wade Roberson Sr.; and | 3 | | WHEREAS, Ward Roberson is survived by his wife; his | 4 | | children, Wendy (Jim) Carlson and Tim (Mary Lou) Roberson; his | 5 | | grandchildren, Kyle Carlson, Kasey Carlson, Kelsey Carlson, | 6 | | and Matthew Roberson; and his siblings, Diane (Larry) Smith, | 7 | | Paulette (Shawn) Moreno, and Amy Kresse; therefore, be it | 8 | | RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL | 9 | | ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of | 10 | | Ward T. Roberson and extend our sincere condolences to his | 11 | | family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it | 12 | | further | 13 | | RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be | 14 | | presented to the family of Ward Roberson as an expression of | 15 | | our deepest sympathy. |
