SENATE RESOLUTION

 
2    WHEREAS, The members of the Illinois Senate are saddened
3to learn of the death of Henry Bernard Geise of Quincy,
4formerly of Estero, Florida, who passed away on December 1,
52023; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Henry Geise was born to Bernard Henry and Violet
7Marie (Wabel) Geise in Quincy on April 3, 1936; he attended St.
8Boniface Grade School and graduated from Christian Brothers
9High School in 1954; he graduated with a degree in accounting
10from Quincy College in 1959 and with a Juris Doctor from the
11University of Illinois in 1963; he served in the U.S. Army
12Reserves; he married Jill (Groves) at Quincy College Chapel on
13August 6, 1960; and
 
14    WHEREAS, After his college graduation, Henry Geise worked
15for Lybrand, Ross Brothers, and Montgomery; after graduating
16from Law school, he moved back to Quincy and joined his
17father-in-law's law practice, retiring from private practice
18after nearly 60 years; he also taught business law classes in
19the evenings at Quincy College in his earlier years; in
20addition, he was the owner and president of the Maid Rite
21Sandwich Shop and the former Maid Rite East Sandwich Shop; and
 
22    WHEREAS, Henry Geise was appointed as the Quincy City

1Attorney, a position he held for many years; he also acted as
2the emcee at the Beaux Arts Ball; and
 
3    WHEREAS, Henry Geise attended Our Lady of Light Catholic
4Church in Fort Myers, Florida and the Church of St. Peter in
5Quincy; and
 
6    WHEREAS, Henry Geise had a calm demeanor and a wonderful
7sense of humor; he loved the outdoors, spending countless
8hours working on projects and fishing at his cabin, golfing,
9and playing cards; his family was everything to him, and he
10spent much treasured time with them, especially during family
11trips to Florida, Colorado, and the Lake of the Ozarks; and
 
12    WHEREAS, Henry Geise was preceded in death by his parents;
13his brothers-in-law, Rich Hilgenbrink and Don Talken; and his
14nephew, Mark Talken; and
 
15    WHEREAS, Henry Geise is survived by his wife; his
16children, Michael Geise and Lisa (Brian) Knuffman; his
17grandchildren, Taylor (fiance, Payton Welch) Knuffman and
18Caiden (significant other, Payten Rice) Geise; his bonus
19granddaughter, Destiny Aden; his sisters, Judy Talken, Linda
20Hilgenbrink, and Debbie (Robert) Steeples; and his several
21nieces and nephews along with their spouses and children;
22therefore, be it

1    RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE ONE HUNDRED THIRD GENERAL
2ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of
3Henry Bernard Geise and extend our sincere condolences to his
4family, friends, and all who knew and loved him; and be it
5further
 
6    RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be
7presented to the family of Henry Geise as an expression of our
8deepest sympathy.
