SENATE RESOLUTION

WHEREAS, The members of the Senate of the State of Illinois learned with regret of the death of Julia Kolisek of Benton, on Wednesday, September 27, 2006; and

WHEREAS, She was born on December 23, 1907, in Panama, to John and Katherine (Seidle) Fizel; she was united in marriage to Frank Kolisek Sr. on October 2, 1926; he preceded her in death in 1978; and

WHEREAS, She received her nursing training at St. Mary's Hospital in East St. Louis and was the first educated nurse to work in Zeigler Hospital; she also worked as a nurse at Moore Hospital in Benton, as a charge nurse at Franklin Hospital, and as a nurse in the Franklin Hospital Skilled Care Nursing Unit; and

WHEREAS, She liked antiques and enjoyed collecting them in her spare time; she was a life-time member of the Easter Star and was a member for 67 years; and

WHEREAS, The passing of Julia Kolisek has been deeply felt by many, especially her sons and daughters-in-law, Fred and Marietta Kolisek and John and Janet Kolisek; her daughters and sons-in-law, Rose Ann and Michael Kosor, Katherine L. and Dick Ellis, Wilma J. Nangle, Margaret S. Rice, and Beverly J. Kolisek; her grandchildren and spouses, Jane and Paul McAllister, Michael and Cynthia Kosor Jr., Karen and Rob Robles, Dr. Derek and Karin Ellis, Dr. David and Penny Ellis, Anita and Ollie Horton, Melinda and Jan Melvin, John Nangle, Dr. Frank and Lisa Kolisek, J. Michael Kolisek, Kevin Kolisek, Jamie Nelson, Gretchen and John Jenkins, Lisa and Doug Auld, and Andrea and Mark Wilkinson; her great-grandchildren, Christopher Kosor, Jacqueline and Kara Evans, Dwight and Shannon Ellis, Stephanie, Josh and Valerie Ellis, Marcus and Andrew Horton, Jacob, Charles and Kelsey Kolisek, Kane Kolisek, Mackince and Julian Nelson, Ryan, Kyle and Julia Jenkins and Kincaid and Alexis Auld; and special friends, Doris and Jim McLare and Harry and Carol Treadwell; she was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Frank Sr.; sons, Frank Jr. and James R. Kolisek; daughter, Irma Canning; granddaughters, Julie Ann Moore and JoAnn Nangle; and brother, John Fizel Jr.; therefore, be it

RESOLVED, BY THE SENATE OF THE NINETY-FOURTH GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF ILLINOIS, that we mourn the passing of Julia Kolisek, and we extend our sincere condolences to her family, friends, and all who knew and loved her; and be it further

RESOLVED, That a suitable copy of this resolution be presented to her family as an expression of our deepest sympathy.
